SB 149 -- STATE PERSONNEL LAW

SPONSOR:  Nodler (Stevenson)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Judiciary by a vote of 10 to 0.

This bill establishes a separate hearing after the appeal of a
decision in the favor of a merit system state employee after a
dismissal, demotion, or suspension to determine the amount of a
back-pay award and a reinstatement date.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill corrects a legal
impossibility created by two conflicting court decisions.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Nodler.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
